Motorcycle rider sustains critical head injuries after crash

MARANA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A motorcycle rider was sent to the hospital Saturday night with critical head injuries, after a crash on the northwest side.
Capt. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire tells KGUN9 that the motorcycle lost control and crashed on Aerie Drive, just south of Ina Road at about 8:30 p.m.
The rider on the bike was not wearing a helmet and flew 70 feet after the bike hit a curb, sustaining critical head injuries. The rider was taken by ground ambulance to the University of Arizona Medical Center.
The Marana Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident and determining if speed or alcohol were factors.
