"I hope he stays in jail forever": neighbor about accused teen

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A single mother of four who lives near Tyler Kost, the San Tan Valley teenager accused of 29 counts of sexual assault and sexual abuse, said she fears for her children.

"It made me sick to my stomach; it was really scary," said Katherine McBride. "He can see right into their backyard where my kids are playing all day long."

McBride said her kindergarten-aged daughter walks past Kost's house every day on her way to school. After learning of the charges against Kost, McBride has changed her daily routine.

"Their babysitter, she watches Emily walk home, Emily walks home with another kid from school so they're watched at all times, we don't leave the door unlocked, we close all the windows at night," said McBride.

She said she feels paranoid now if her kids are ever out of her sight.

McBride did not know Tyler Kost or his family and said she never expected anyone in her neighborhood to be accused of such crimes.

Kost was rearrested Thursday for 25 new charges, bringing the total to 29 against him, with 18 victims. A judge ruled Kost to be "unbondable", meaning he cannot be released from jail on bond.

McBride said that gives her at least some comfort.

"I hope he stays in jail forever. I don't know why they released him the first time," said McBride. "I don't think that they should have ever done that, but I'm glad he's back in jail now."
