Elderly man drowns in backyard pond
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man is dead after drowning in a pond in Saddlebrooke Saturday morning.
Bat. Chief William Seeley with the Golder Ranch Fire District tells KGUN9 that emergency medical personnel responded to the 63,000 block of East Squash Blossum just before 11:00 a.m after they received a call about a drowning.
Once on scene, crews discovered a 77-year-old man face down in a pond in a backyard, Seeley said.
EMT's tried to resuscitate the man, but they were unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead on scene, according to Seeley.
Seeley wishes to remind everyone that no matter a person's age, it is always important to follow the ABC's of drowning.
A- Always have adult supervision
C- Classes- know CRP, and teach your children how to swim
He also recomends telling someone before you go swimming or whenever you plan to be working around water.
