TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police were on scene at Cholla High School Tuesday, searching for a student.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with the Tucson Police Department tells KGUN 9 that a student dropped something out of his pocket Tuesday morning.
The student's teacher thought it might have been a weapon, according to Widmer.
When the teacher asked the student to empty his pockets, the student left the class.
School administrators put the school on lockdown as a precaution, Widmer said.
The lockdown was lifted and the students returned to class at 1:43 PM.
Tucson Unified School District officials set up a command center during the lockdown so that parents could speak to school safety officers about what was happening during the lockdown.
