Back-to-School supplies needed to get students started off on the right foot
TUCSON (KGUN9) - Ready or not the store aisles are getting stalked with backpacks, notebooks, and paper. Yes, back-to-school shopping is here.
The Salvation Army will be taking more than 100 economically-disadvantaged children in our community shopping for an outfit to wear on the first day of school and the students will also get a backpack full of school essentials.
“It makes them feel better,” said Shawna Kroh with the Salvation Army, “it makes them feel like they fit in and it just puts a smile on their faces.”
The Salvation Army is still in need of donations to fill the backpacks.
It needs folders, rulers, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, and erasers.
Donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army at 1001 N. Richey Blvd.
On July 16th, The Salvation Army will be partnering with Fry’s Food and Drug stores, to host a school supply drive at 10661 N. Oracle Rd. in Oro Valley. The Salvation Army will be out in front of the store collecting back-to-school items and taking monetary donations from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
