RED ROCK (KGUN9-TV) - Pinal County Sheriff's have identified the men they said are involved in an armed robbery, which led to an officer-involved shooting.

32-year-old Matthew Clowers was shot and killed by officers after he ran away from an armed robbery. 23-year-old Adam Chavez, who was reportedly with him, is now in the hospital.

Clowers spent ten years in prison for charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery in Pima County, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Department.

Chavez spent eight months in prison for endangerment and theft in Pinal County, deputies said.

Earlier this morning, deputies began investigating an armed robbery at a business called "M Passion Adult Boutique," in the 16,000 block of East Peak Lane.

The suspects fled and a vehicle description was sent out to surrounding law enforcement agencies, according to Tim Gaffney with the Pinal County Sheriff's Department.

A short time later a deputy located a vehicle matching the description in the Red Rock area and attempted to stop it, Gaffney said.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle rammed the deputies vehicle. Then, someone fired shots at the deputy. The deputy fired back in defense, according to Gaffney.

One suspect is dead and another was taken to the hospital. The deputy was not hit by any of the suspects bullets, Gaffney said.
