Police identify man killed in overnight shooting
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Jesus Salaz, 32, has been identified as the man killed in a shooting overnight.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that on November 9, officers responded to a report of shots heard and a male lying on the ground in front of the liquor store located at 1866 South Country Club Road.
When officer arrived, they located Salaz with gunshot trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, said Widmer.
Officers determined that at least one of the individuals involved in the incident had prior gang affiliations.
Detectives and Gang Detectives responded to continue the investigation, said Widmer. They determined that as the Wooden Nickel Tavern, located at 1908 South Country Club Road, was closing for night and multiple people were leaving the establishment.
A fight occurred in front of a nearby liquor store, said Widmer. Multiple shots were fired and the victim was struck.
Detectives interviewed about ten individuals who remained in the area.
Police are still searching for the shooter and are asking anyone with information to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
