Mexican man arrested after ramming DPS patrol car
PHOENIX (AP) - A Mexican man is in custody for reportedly ramming an Arizona Department of Public Safety patrol car.
DPS officials say 26-year-old Angel Antonio Flores-Tirado allegedly was on his way to deliver supplies to members of a drug cartel at a rest stop near Casa Grande.
A DPS Highway Patrol officer stopped Flores-Tirado about 3 a.m. Monday on Interstate 10 in west Phoenix.
Authorities say Flores-Tirado put his pickup truck in reverse, rammed the officer's patrol car and fled the scene but was later arrested.
DPS says Flores-Tirado's truck was loaded with survival gear, food, beverages, multiple pairs of walking shoes and camouflage jackets, batteries and cell phones and a loaded 9mm glock handgun and ammunition.
Flores-Tirado is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault on police officer and other charges.
