TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that left one man dead.

Sgt. Chris Widmer with the Tucson Police Department says 33-year-old Donald Woods turned himself in after he met with his attorney Tuesday.

On Wednesday Oct. 16, police responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of North Fontana Avenue, Widmer said.

Once on scene, police located 28-year-old Brandon Luster suffering from gun shot wounds. Paramedics transported Luster to the hospital where he died from his injuries later that night, according to Widmer.

During the investigation, police determined that one or more of the people involved in the shooting had gang affiliations. Therefore, gang detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation, Widmer said.

The following day, police narrowed their search for suspects to Woods and issued a felony warrant for his arrest.

After turning himself in to authorities, police arrested Woods and charged him with one count of first-degree murder and one count of prohibited possessor, according to Widmer.
