Suspect arrested in 2009 Arizona cold case
PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in northern Arizona have arrested a Camp Verde man in connection with the 2009 disappearance of a woman who's believed to be dead.
Yavapai County Sheriff's officials said Tuesday that 59-year-old Robert Reed is being held without bond in the Camp Verde Detention Center.
They say Reed has been indicted on 26 counts including second-degree murder, fraudulent schemes, vehicle theft, identity theft, forgery and perjury.
Authorities say 65-year-old Kristal Forest was last seen with Reed in March 2009 in Camp Verde. Her body has never been found.
At the time of her disappearance, Forest was in the process of moving from Cottonwood to Austin, Texas.
Reed allegedly was helping Forest with her move and her empty trailer was found at a Las Cruces, N.M., storage yard in April 2009.
