Police looking for man in Fry's bomb scare
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Officers are looking for a suspect in a bank robbery in which the man implied he had a bomb.
Sgt. Chris Widmer with TPD tells KGUN9 that a man tried to rob the Wells Fargo bank inside the Fry's grocery store at Grant and Swan Tuesday by saying he had a bomb in his bag.
The man demanded money from the tellers, but left the store without receiving any money. He left his bag behind.
Police later determined that the object inside the bag was a simulated explosive device, but was not dangerous.
The store was evacuated as a precaution while the bomb squad investigated.
The man is described as African American, in his mid 30s, 5'10'' to 6'1'' tall, 150 to 175 pounds and was wearing a dark blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and a fisherman's hat.
Anyone with information on his identity is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
