TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Unified School District Governing Board named a superintendent finalist.
TUSD's Governing Board held a special meeting Monday night and named Dr. H.T. Sanchez as a finalist for the superintendent position, according to Director of Communications for TUSD, Cara Rene.
Sanchez is the interim superintendent at Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, TX, and he has worked in public education for 15 years, Rene said.
Sanchez is now in the running to replace Dr. John Pedicone, the current TUSD superintendent who announced in March that he would resign his position at the end of June, according to Rene.
The TUSD Governing Board has scheduled a community forum with Sanchez Wednesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Catalina Magnet High School, 3645 E. Pima Street. During the community forum, the public will be allowed to ask Sanchez questions.
Rene tells KGUN9 that the Governing Board will name the new superintendent at an upcoming board meeting.
