TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Two adults and their pets are without a home today after a fire took their southwest side trailer early Friday morning.

Firefighters with the Drexel Heights Fire District responded to a trailer fire in the 7700 block of south Cardinal Avenue early Friday morning, according to Tracy Koslowski with Drexel Heights Fire.

Koslowski tells KGUN9 that the fire started underneath a mobile home near the hot water heater compartment.

Fortunately, the resident was able to exit the home and get her two dogs out of the home as soon as she began to see flames, Koslowski said.

Due to high winds, the fire spread quickly, fully engulfing the trailer.

Firefighters, including crews from the Pascua Pueblo Fire Department, the Tohono O'odham Fire Department and the Pima County Sheriff's Department were able to keep the fire from spreading to other nearby structures, according to Koslowski.

The Red Cross is assisting the two adults who lived in the trailer, providing much needed resources.
