TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Hundreds of bees attacked a woman as she walked down Tanque Verde Thursday.

The attack happened on the edge of the Golf N Stuff miniature golf and game arcade.

A passing driver saw the woman fighting the swarm and called 911.  Tucson Firefighters arrived, hosed the woman down to drive off the bees, hustled the woman into an ambulance and rushed her to a hospital.

Firefighter Jason Adler put on protective gear and rushing into the swarm to help.

"She was in a lot of pain.  It's lucky she wasn't allergic, but she was in a lot of pain.  I think there was about two hundred or three hundred stingers."

Golf N Stuff called in a bee removal expert from Arizona Pest Control who traced the bees to a hive off the property, in a wash nearby.  Joshua Tenenbaum said he found about ten thousand bees in a hive tucked under a bridge.  He applied insecticides to kill the bees in the hive and any stragglers that return to the nest later.
