Missing for months, Tucson cat found in Wisconsin

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - If you've ever wondered where the saying, "curiosity killed the cat," came from, well, meet Ace.

Ace is the cat that went missing from his Tucson home a whopping 10 months ago. Owner, Joanne Ferguson says she and her friends looked everywhere for her beloved pet of eight years.

"I mean, we thought he was dead," Ferguson said.

That is -- until today. Tuesday, Ferguson received a call from the South Wood County Humane Society in Wisconsin. Turns out, Ace has been doing some traveling.

"When this happened, it really threw us for a loop.We were very happy of course, but then it's trying to figure out how do we get him from Wisconsin back home to Arizona," South Wood County Humane Society director Bridget Chariton told 9OYS via Skype.

Making the story even more strange, Humane Society workers don't even know how the 11-year-old cat made it to their front door. Chariton says they found him in a brand new cat carrier, sitting on their doorstep Tuesday morning. No note. No nothing.

Ferguson and her now worldly-feline reunited via Skype. Our Nine On Your Side cameras captured the long-awaited reunion.

"Oh this is awesome you guys. This is just amazing," Ferguson said.

"I got to tell you, I'm glad you're okay but you're grounded," she joked.

"If only [Ace] could talk. We would love to know what his story is and try and put the pieces together," Chariton said.

As to how Ace managed the 1800-mile-trip, only Ace knows that story.

We're happy to report that Ace will be flying home soon, compliments of Southwest Airlines with a personal excort!
