Post Office recommends mailing tax returns early

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Post Office urges the public to mail their income tax returns early to avoid crowds.

Postmaster Carl Grigel recommends mailing the tax returns early, or before April 15. It is also recommended that customers purchase their postage stamps before the deadline.

Stamps can be purchased at local retailers, contract postal units or Post Offices. For a list of locations, visit the United States Postal Service website.

Tax returns must have proper postage when mailed. Postage for a standard first-class envelope is 46 cents for the first ounce and 20 cents for each addition ounce.

Customers can also use the Self-Service Ship and Mail Center at the Main Post Office. Customers can purchase stamps and mail letters and packages 24 hours a day, using a credit or debit card.

The Main Post Office on 1501 S. Cherrybell Stravenue is the only location where tax returns can be mailed at midnight on April 15. Customers should the entrance on E. Silverlake Road to minimize traffic delays.
