TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A fire broke out inside a home on the south side near Lincoln Street and 2nd Avenue just after 3 a.m. Thursday.

Captain Barrett Baker told 9 On Your Side that TFD received multiple calls reporting smoke and flames coming from the house.

Baker said that the majority of the fire was contained to a back bedroom and bathroom area. However, the home did sustain heavy smoke damage.

The home was not occupied when the fire broke out and the homeowners did arrive at the scene to confirm that it was vacant at that time.

It took nine units and 23 firefighters to control the fire within 12 minutes of arriving at the scene. There were no injuries to firefighters and Red Cross was not needed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and a damages estimate is still to be determined.
