Grinch steals from Winterhaven

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A Tucson neighborhood, famous for spreading the magic of Christmas.
"As a child I remember driving through and I'd always say I'm gonna live in winterhaven and it's always been my dream and then in about 1996 I finally was able to afford to live here," Winterhaven Resident Patricia Brescia said.
As neighbors set up decorations for the 63rd annual Winterhaven Festival of Lights, thieves are already tearing them down.
"Initally it was sad, outraged, dismayed that something like this has happened so early for the people that have worked so hard," Winterhaven Resident Bill Bethel said.
Neighbors said some punks swiped expensive lights and handmade displays from front yards, at about six different houses.
"It costs a lot of money to build what we do and it costs a lot of time and effort to put up the displays and it's kinda sad when they think they need to take it so other people can't enjoy it," Brescia said.
That leaves neighbors taking security into their own hands- bolting down displays and keeping a careful watch.
