Border Patrol seizes more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana, recovers stolen vehicle

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - On Monday, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents, working in collaboration with multiple agencies, seized more than half-a-ton of abandoned marijuana near Interstate 8.
Casa Grande Station agents conducting joint operations in the Vekol Valley area with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations and the Pinal County Sheriff's Office discovered an abandoned Chevy Tahoe filled with 1,097 pounds of marijuana worth more than $548,500.
Agents and officers on the ground searched the area for suspects but no arrests were made.
In a news release, the Tucson Sector said yhe marijuana was turned over to the DEA. The vehicle, reported stolen out of Phoenix, was released to the Department of Public Safety.
