PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - The Pima County Sheriff Department has arrested two high school students from two separate high school for threats.
According to Tom Peine, a former Marana High School student has been arrested. The 17-year-old former student posted on Facebook that he was going to blow up the school. The student has been charged for threatening and intimidation.
A second incident occurred at Tanque Verde High School where a student reported to school administration they has seen another student with a hit list. School administration contacted authorities and through their investigation learned the student had made up the story. The student who made the claim is being charged with interference of an educational institution.
Peine says authorities do not take these types of threats lightly and have a zero tolerance policy.
"We will react and if that's warranted we will make arrests in these situations. There is a reason we prepare to go on a lock down. Deputies prepare and we all know why they do that. I don't want to paint any gory pictures but we all know that we have to react very quickly to these because the most dangerous part is the early part of situations like this," Peine said.
These threats follow an incident at Sabino High School where a student claimed he was going to dress as a serial killer on Halloween. Other students heard him say you are all going to die.
The student was arrested Monday and is currently on suspension.
