YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say Border Patrol agents have seized 66 pounds of marijuana and detained two Mexican men in the desert southwest of Phoenix.
The Border Patrol says agents patrolling near Gila Bend over the weekend found the two men walking in the desert carrying backpacks full of marijuana.
They say the drug seized was worth about $33,000 and will be destroyed. The two men were detained pending deportation.
Separately, authorities say Border Patrol agents patrolling near Andrade, Calif., west of Yuma over the weekend detained four people illegally crossing the border. The agency says one suspect was from Honduras and is a member of the MS-13 gang. He was last deported from the U.S. in April and was being held for prosecution.
