Construction set for La Cholla Boulevard

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Construction on the detour path on La Cholla Boulevard from Overton Road to Harvey Road will begin on Oct. 15 and run until Oct. 24, according to the Pima County Department of Transportation.

The PCDOT, Regional Transportation Authority and Markham Construction are contributing to the project.

The detour will be put in place to allow the contractor to being working on the bridge over the Canada Del Oro Wash.

The work will consist of constructing the detour, paving and stripping the lanes. Traffic is expected to be on the detour lanes by Oct. 24.

Improvement from the project will include four lanes, paved shoulders for bicycles, a multi-use path, curbs and storm drains, intersection improvements, a raised landscaped median, public art and a new four lane bridge with a concrete deck over the Canada Del Oro Wash.
