Tombstone, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - It's being called another step in the healing process for a greiving community.

Sunday, Cochise County residents turned out to historic Tombstone as part of an 1800's style walk down funeral.

The Tombstone tradition honors those who have died. Sunday, it was in tribute to late Cochise County Sheriff, Larry Dever.

Dever died last Tuesday in a single vehicle rollover crash near the town of Williams. He was 60.

Enid Reinhart was Sheriff Dever's assistant campaign manager.

"The whole Cochise County, state of Arizona and even the United States has lost a very important person and his shoes are going to be hard to fill. The job can be be filled but what he did and his legacy will live on and on. It can never be replaced," said Reinhart.

Tombstone Marshal Billy Cloud tells KGUN9 that as long as he is Marshall, the tradition will continue.

A memorial for the late Sheriff will be held Wednesday evening.
