TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Deputies responded to 10 swift water rescues Thursday after strong thunderstorms moved through the Tucson area, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Peine tells KGUN9 that search and rescue crews had to enter the water in four of the rescues, and he believes a total of 10 people had to be saved from high waters.

Peine says the most involved rescue occurred at Sandario and Kinney Road, where an elderly couple had to be roped in by crews, and three other girls were stuck in a tree after their car washed away.

In addition to PCSD recuses, Drexel Heights Fire District says they responded to seven swift water rescues, that were all a result of people driving through flooded washes.

There were no injuries in any of the rescues.
