VAIL, Ariz., (KGUN9-TV) - Westbound I-10 near Highway 83 has been reopened after two motor vehicle rollover accidents forced emergency crews to temporarily reduce traffic to one lane.
Emergency crews with Corona de Tucson and Rincon Valley Fire Departments responded to two unrelated motor vehicle rollover accidents on westbound I-10 near milepost 285 just before 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, according to Lee Bucklin with the Rincon Valley Fire Department.
The first vehicle rollover involved an SUV that contained a man and a woman.
The man sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was able to exit the vehicle on his own.
The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle.
She was transported to University Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Bucklin.
The other vehicle rollover occurred approximately 20 feet from the first rollover accident and involved a pickup truck.
Bucklin said the man driving the truck was able to exit the vehicle on his own and did not sustain any injuries.
According to Todd Cupell with Corona de Tucson Fire Department, the incidents may be due to inclement weather as motor vehicle accidents commonly occur on I-10 near Highway 83 during severe weather.
