TUCSON (Arizona Athletics) Following a practice in full pads on Tuesday night, the Arizona football team returned to Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium on Wednesday for their first morning session of fall camp.

In what was the hottest day of camp thus far with temperatures pushing 100 degrees, the Wildcats went back to shorts and helmets after completing a session in full pads just last night.

“We are not practicing as well as I would like,” head coach Rich Rodriguez said. “We’ve got high expectations in the way we practice. The players will eventually understand the way of life we expect and we have good enough young men that will adapt and do that.”

The morning session opened with drills in positional groups. Following the positional drills, the team conducted some special teams work. Wednesday’s practice concluded with the “skeleton drill” followed by some 11-on-11 team action.

After meetings in the early afternoon, the Wildcats will leave for Fort Huachuca later today, where they will continue training camp. Thursday’s practice will be the first two-a-day session of camp. The squad heads home on Sunday and will return to Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium on Monday with a morning practice.

“I’ve talked to people that have been there (Fort Huachuca) before and I think our players are looking forward to it,” Rodriguez added. “It’s a true camp atmosphere so that is something we need right now.”
