TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A family of three has been displaced after lightning struck an apartment and started a fire.
Cpt. Barrett Baker with Tucson Fire tells KGUN9 that residents of the apartment building heard a loud bang and then lost power.
The first unit reported light smoke coming from the roof of the three story apartment. They entered into a third floor apartment while a ladder crew put up a ladder and accessed the roof.
Using a thermal imaging camera, interior crews located the hottest point in the ceiling area
and started pulling down the drywall and insulation.
Crews located a small amount of flames which was quickly extinguished.
Insulation was pulled down from ceiling area by the interior crews and showed obvious signs of charring.
The displaced residents are being moved into a different apartment in the same building.
