Crews battle 3rd floor apartment fire

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Firefighters with Tucson Fire battled an apartment fire that took them nine minutes to extinguish.
Cpt. Barrett Baker with Tucson Fire tells KGUN9 a 9-1-1 was made to report an apartment on fire in the 1300 block of South Kolb Road.
When the first unit arrived on scene, they reported smoke coming from a third floor apartment.
Crews entered the apartment to check for occupants.
The fire originated in a storage room, but the cause of the fire has not been determined. The room
with the fire involvement was an end unit and was being used as a storage room for occupants
of the third floor to store their belongings.
The fire did not spread to neighboring apartments.
One person attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher before the arrival of TFD. He was assessed by paramedics, but didn't require further medical attention.
Damage to the apartment is estimated at $10,000.
