TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The cause of a house fire on Sunday is still under investigation.
Cpt. Jeff Langejans with Tucson Fire tells KGUN they received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a fire and a large column of black smoke coming from a house in the 100 block of West Weymouth.
Fire crews initiated an aggressive offensive attack to check for occupants and control the fire.
As additional units arrived at the fire, they encountered an energized down power line and a gas meter that had failed due to the heat from the fire.
When crew ensured there were no occupants inside the home, crews took away from the hazardous areas and waited for Tucson Electric Power and Southwest Gas to assist.
On June 17, Tucson Fire responded to this same location for another fire. There were no injuries and the home appeared to be boarded up and vacant.
The damage to the home is estimated at $90,000.
