TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a collision that killed 55-year-old Bruce Gordon Purdy.
Deputy Thomas Peine tells KGUN9 that on June 22, deputies responded to reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle at Picture Rocks Road and Sandario Road.
When deputies arrived, they found a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by Purdy, had been struck head on by a Suzuki SUV.
Evidence at the scene indicated that the 39-year-old female driver was driving eastbound on Picture Rocks Road and then crossed over into the westbound lane where she struck Purdy.
Purdy was airlifted from the scene to University of Arizona Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.
The female driver and sole occupant of the SUV suffered minor injuries. A small amount of marijuana was found inside the car and a blood sample was obtained from the driver.
