TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Arizona Department of Health Services is investigating the death of a man who may have possibly been left in the heat at a long-term care facility.
Laura Oxley with ADHS tells KGUN9 they recieved a call from Sabino Canyon Rehabilitation and Care Center on Tuesday reporting a man who had been taken to the hospital from their facility. The man had been left outside in the heat on Monday.
Administrator Christie Jones with Sabino Canyon Rehabilitation and Care Center tells KGUN9, "Sabino Canyon is saddened by the loss of one of our residents - he was a good man, and he will be missed."
Jones continues by saying, "Because there is an ongoing investigation, and also because of the state and federal confidentiality of medical information laws, we are not at liberty to comment directly on the circumstances surrounding the resident's admission to the Facility."
Jones also said that although she cannot comment specifically on this case, any suggestions of a resident being left outside or being outside for an extended period of time are incorrect.
