ELOY, Ariz., (KGUN9-TV) - An Eloy man with a valid medical marijuana card was arrested for having more than six times the legal amount of medical marijuana in his possession, in addition to having more than $10,000 in cash, according to officials with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.
Kirk Hutchins, 23, was pulled over by a deputy for following another car too closely. The deputy noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car and questioned Hutchins about the odor.
Hutchins showed the deputy a container with two grams of marijuana inside, as well as his license and a valid medical marijuana card.
The deputy continued to smell the marijuana and asked Hutchins why the odor was so strong.
Hutchins told the deputy, "Man that's only half of it." He would not let the deputy search his car.
Hutchins was placed under arrest and a search of the vehicle turned up a duffel bag with approximately two pounds of medical marijuana, as well as $10,000 in cash.
Hutchins was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center.
