TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Sen. John McCain will be influencing future international leaders at Arizona State University.
The Arizona Republic reports the 2008 Republican presidential nominee is establishing the McCain Institute for International Leadership.
The McCain Institute, to open in December, will be based in Washington, D.C., but also have a presence at the school's Tempe campus.
McCain is funding the institute with $9 million leftover from his presidential campaign.
McCain says he wants to have a program that will draw American and foreign students. He says the program will stress character-driven leadership and be a place for debate on foreign affairs.
ASU President Michael Crow said in a statement the McCain Institute will fit in perfectly with the school's mission to have a positive impact on the larger community.
