Corinne Hautala joins Good Morning Tucson as news anchor
Notes by: Forrest Carr, KGUN9 News Director
The search for a new member of the KGUN9 News Good Morning Tucson anchor team has ended. Corinne Hautala will now take over that role on a permanent basis.
Corinne is a native of Phoenix, and graduated from ASU with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She joined KGUN9 News as a reporter last year, motivated largely by a desire to return to her native state.
Corinne has plenty of experience. Prior to returning to Arizona, Corinne was a reporter and morning anchor at WTLV-TV in Jacksonville, Florida. She also has experience in the Hastings, Nebraska market, where she started as a Video Journalist and worked her way up the ranks to the evening anchor desk.
Corinne has spent the past several weeks filling in on GMT. Corinne's talents and personality are a perfect fit with those of co-anchor Steve Nuñez, meteorologist April Madison, and traffic reporter Allen Kath (AKA Big Al, Your Traffic Pal.)
With this addition, KGUN9 News will continue the tradition of having a morning news team with with strong personal ties to Tucson and Arizona.
Now that Corinne is moving up to an anchor role, it must be noted that Tucsonans don't always see eye-to-eye with the ASU sports program. When asked rather pointedly whether she plans to switch her loyalty to the Wildcats, Corinne said, "I'm working on it."
No doubt Steve Nuñez, who is a dyed-in-the-wood Cats fanatic, will help nudge her along with that. (Hint: Corinne, by "nudge," we mean that you will never hear the end of this from Steve until you get right with the Cats.)
Corinne's promotion is effective immediately. KGUN9 News is proud to have her join us in this role.
