TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – The Celis family interview with local media Friday morning sparked some strong reactions from KGUN9 viewers. Many of you weighed in on our Facebook page, defending the parents and how they’ve approached the disappearance of their daughter Isabel in the last two weeks; others question their sincerity.

“I didn’t want to be here. I don’t want to be here. I don’t want her here with us, sitting and I don’t want to be in front of the cameras. I don’t want my family to be in front of the cameras,” Isabel’s mother Rebecca Celis said.

Brittany Castellanos commented on Facebook: “I’m sorry, but it doesn’t matter if your’e a shy person or (you don’t) show your emotions. Your daughter is missing!!!”

Other viewers like Patricia  O’Brien believe the parents deserve more sympathy: “I’m so sick of people telling the Celis family how they should behave and grieve. There is no CPS file on the family. No run-ins with law enforcement.” ]

During the interview, Isabel’s father responded to a direct question about his involvement with Isabel’s disappearance.

Sergio shook his head and said, “Nothing. I really don’t what to answer to that, except that they’re wrong.”

Some viewers saw the interview as an opportunity to gauge the parents’ sincerity.

“These people have no emotion. I would be more upset if my dog went missing. I wonder if they failed the polygraph as well,” posted “dbgdds.”

Others though, connected with the Celis parents and their emotional plea.

“My heart goes out to them. I wish the media would not have grilled them so harshly. It’s so invasive at the most horrible time in their lives,” Kim Dodson wrote.

And many viewers agree with the parents that the focus right now should be on little Isa.

“People are so judgmental, it’s sickening. Let’s hope to God this doesn’t happen to one of you,” remarked Kara Potter.

Melissa Holmes said: “No one truly knows how they would react until they are in their shoes. Can everyone please come together and focus on what’s important: little Isa.”

So far, 13 thousand people have “liked” the two Facebook pages dedicated to finding Isabel.
