WINSLOW, Ariz. (AP) - A Norwegian man who took a wrong turn onto a one-way street during a festival in a small Arizona town has been sentenced to a 7 ½ year prison term that has drawn strong interest in Scandinavia.

John Kristoffer Larsgard was convicted of seven charges by a jury in Navajo County last month.

The 33-year-old's lawyer says the case is a miscarriage of justice involving a confused driver. But the prosecutors say Larsgard turned his car into a weapon, hitting one woman and nearly running over several others.

The Arizona Republic reports ( ) that Larsgard and his mother were driving across the U.S. when they had car trouble in Winslow. Returning to town in a rental car, they turned onto a street where the festival was in full swing.
