PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning the public about websites falsely advertising driver's license services.

ADOT officials issued an alert Tuesday about Internet scams where sites charge customers' credit cards for services that only the state can offer. Authorities say these sites claim to authorize motor vehicle services such as registration renewals, specialty license plates or a duplicate driver's license.

The Arizona Motor Vehicle Division's website is the only online page that allows residents to conduct these transactions.

In addition, renewing and obtaining a driver's license can only be done in person at a local Motor Vehicle Division facility or a third-party office.
