TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man has died after a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of North Camino Seco and East Placita del Escuela at approximately 8:00 p.m. Saturday, according to authorities.
Jack A. Burnette, 50, was transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment, where he succumbed to injuries received during the collision, according to authorities.
Burnette was pronounced dead at the hospital. His next of kin have been notified.
Authorities say a tan, 4-Door, 1999 Saturn SL2 was headed northbound on North Camino Seco. Burnette was the driver of the vehicle. He lost control and hit the curb at the southeastern corner of the intersection of North Camino Seco and East Placita del Escuela. The vehicle rolled and ultimately came to a rest at the northeastern corner of the same intersection, according to authorities.
Detectives examined and collected roadway evidence, as well as conducted interviews with witnesses on the scene.
Officers state Burnette's vehicle was the sole vehicle involved in the incident and there were no other passengers in the vehicle. No other vehicles were affected by, nor involved in the collision at the time.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine if substances such as drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Authorities suspect Burnette was not wearing a seatbelt. It is also unknown at this time if speed was a factor in the collision.
