Arizona House OKs state personnel system changes

PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona House has approved legislation to implement Republican Gov. Jan Brewer's proposal for a sweeping rewrite of the state government's personnel system.
The House's 39-19 vote Wednesday sends the bill to the Senate.
The legislation is a top policy priority for Brewer in the current legislative session.
It would make it easier to fire and discipline most state executive-branch workers and give the governor hiring and firing authority over more agency directors.
