TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - It has been a tough eight weeks, but six new Golder Ranch Firefighters made it through. Firefighters say, it was a small price to pay for their new career.
The new recruits trained by wearing fifty pounds of gear while fighting fires during the academy. One recruit even had to be taken to the hospital for dehydration on day two of the academy, a testament to how grueling the work can be.
In order to understand the complexity of fires and rescues, Golder Ranch staged an emergency at Catalina Mountain School. Eight weeks of training means these firefighters have the knowledge to save lives and fight fires, but it's the courage they are born with that makes them our newest generation of heroes.
KGUN 9 would like to congratulate: Jason Johns, Ignacio Gamez, Trevor Carlson, Adam Lunderburg, Colin Port and Jose Samaniego.
