CORONA DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) - President Barack Obama is raising money for his re-election campaign in Democrat-rich California, telling supporters that a journey that began in 2008 "is not yet complete."
Obama was attending a fundraising breakfast in a beachside community outside Los Angeles, then heading to San Francisco for three campaign events. All told, the president was expected to raise more than $8 million during a three-day trip through the West coast.
Obama told about 125 donors that his 2008 campaign brought a "sense of possibility" of moving in a new direction. He says, "we've begun that process but the journey is not yet complete."
The president hauled in more than $220 million in 2011 and is bolstering his campaign as the Republican presidential contest remains unsettled.
