TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)- Sweet or salty snacks can be a perfect companion for an evening of tv. However, a new study suggests that the programs you choose to watch may influence how quickly you get to the bottom of that popcorn bowl. Researchers at Cornell University treated college students to a tv show, and placed an array of tasty snacks nearby. Some of these students got to watch the fast-paced action movie "The Island" while others watched a segment of the Charlie Rose interview show instead. Those watching the action movie snacked twice as much. The researchers think the distracting sights and sounds may have stopped the students from realizing how much they were eating. Also interesting, guys seemed to be even more susceptible to this effect than girls.
