Pompeo Campaign Recap:
Congressman Mike Pompeo won the Republican Primary Tuesday for the 4th District Congressional seat.
Pompeo beat former Congressman Todd Tiahrt, who had previously held the seat, but did not seek re-election in 2010 because he was running for U.S. Senate. It was the Senate seat previously held by now Governor Sam Brownback. Jerry Moran won in the primary against Tiahrt and went on to win the November General election.
Pompeo took 62% of Tuesday's vote, but finally numbers have not been tabulated.
Speaking to KFDI News Tuesday night, Pompeo said that you always feel proud when you put in sincere hard work and effort and you feel even better when it is recognized by voters.
"When they recognize that you've listened to them, you've heard their message about getting the federal government out of the way, and they in turn have said, 'We want you to go to Washington, D.C. and represent us."
Pompeo said it is humbling and an enormous privelage to serve in Congress. He will face Democrat Perry Shuckman in the November general election.
