Novelty alarm clock causes brief panic at north Wichita motel
Wichita Police were called to the report of an explosive device at a north Wichita motel.
It began around 11:30 a.m. Monday when officers were called to the Mark 8 Motel in the 1000 block of N. Broadway. A maid had discovered what appeared to be some type of bomb inside one of the rooms.
Though the person renting the room confirmed to police that it was just a novelty alarm clock made to look like a bomb, police called out the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team to verify. Xrays determined that the device was in fact harmless.
Residents who had been evacuated were allowed to return around 1:30 p.m.
