Mayor says China trip will help Wichita aviation companies
Wichita mayor Carl Brewer is reporting positive results from a trip he made last week to China to promote new opportunities for aviation companies. The mayor and Kansas Global Trade Services chief executive officer Karyn Page helped to open a Wichita-China aviation office in the city of Beijing.
In a statement issued Thursday, the mayor said the new office has had an enthusiastic response from Chinese government and business leaders. He said there were talks with officials in the city of Xi'an about possible workshops in the future to talk about business opportunities. He said Wichita is poised to become a major player in the future of aviation in China.
The Wichita-China Aviation Office is part of a Global Air Capital Program that was developed by Kansas Global Trade Services. The office is funded by private sponsors in Wichita and China, and KGTS is providing oversight of the office.
