Interfaith Ministries announces 53rd annual Operation Holiday campaign
Interfaith Ministries in Wichita has announced the dates and goals for its 53rd annual Operation Holiday campaign, which will provide food, winter clothing, and toys for families in need.
Interfaith Ministries executive director Anne Corriston said the campaign will be looking to serve 14,000 people for the holiday season, with a goal of $350,000 in donations and 200,000 non-perishable food items. The campaign will also be looking for blankets, coats, hats and scarves, and there will also be a program to collect gifts for teens ages 15 to 17.
Operation Holiday chairman David Dear of Wells Fargo says there are 85 new corporate sponsors this year. One of them, the Davis-Moore auto group, is providing a building at Kellogg and Fabrique for a warehouse where items will be distributed. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots program will help in providing toys for children.
There will be ten locations where families can sign up for assistance, and they can sign up from Monday, November 11th through Wednesday, November 27th, although Interfaith Ministries sites will take applications through December 4th.
The distribution of the food and gifts will take place December 19th, 20th and 21st at the warehouse location.
