Great Bend day care facility shut down after child's injury
A home day care facility in Great Bend has been closed and police are looking into a report of possible child abuse. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has suspended the license for Rhonda's Daycare.
Our news partners at KWCH, Channel 12 report that an eight-month-old child was taken to a hospital in August, and doctors found that the child had a brain injury that was not accidental. An investigation determined that the child was injured while she was being cared for at the day care center.
Because the child is from Claflin, the investigation is being handled by Claflin police with assistance from the Great Bend police department. A report will be presented to the Barton County district attorney's office for any charges to be filed.
