Former Wichita teacher fined for gun possession
A former physical education teacher for a Wichita elementary school has been fined $200 for bringing a loaded gun to the school campus last spring. Dan Nagel appeared in municipal court Friday on a misdemeanor charge.
KWCH reports Nagel did not testify during the hearing. He was found to have a loaded 9 mm pistol at White Elementary in May. Nagel told police he wanted to have the gun to protect his students after the fatal shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.
Nagel was fired by Wichita Public Schools in July.
