Derby man pleads guilty in woman's death
A Derby man has pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the death of a woman last fall in her home. 40-year-old Charles Beck, Jr. was scheduled for trial on April 21st.
44-year-old Lonnie Staggs was suffocated at her home in the 1400 block of North Nixon on September 1st, 2013. Beck was arrested in Missouri later in the day. He was also accused of trying to strangle Staggs' 15-year-old son with a cord and stabbing him in the face and neck with a knife.
Beck will be sentenced in Sedgwick County district court on May 21st.
