Charges filed in Mid-Continent Airport security breach
Charges have been filed against an Oklahoma man for last weekend's security breach at Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport. 26-year-old Mark Henry Rehme, Junior had his first appearance Thursday in Sedgwick County district court.
Rehme, who is from Marlow, Oklahoma, has been charged with felony criminal damage to property and misdemeanor criminal trespassing. He was arrested shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday after driving his vehicle through a security fence near the Cessna Aircraft property. He drove up to an aircraft on the taxiway, and he was caught by Cessna security officers and Sedgwick County sheriff's deputies. A handgun and several knives were found in his vehicle.
Detectives are still looking into Rehme's motives, but they don't believe the incident was an act of terrorism.
A judge set Rehme's bond at $15,000 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for February 6th.
